BIND is by far the most widely used DNS software on the Internet. It provides a robust and stable platform on top of which organizations can build distributed computing systems with the knowledge that those systems are fully compliant with published DNS standards. Supported ModelsThis module should work for the following models: InstallationExtract the module binary package (.mod) from the archive and install it. Note: FaJoDNSServer depends on the module ModBase1 which has to be installed and enabled first. Binary releasesBIND : 9.8.1-P1 ConfigurationAfter enabling the module the module status and configuration page can be accessed. This page allows to restart the DNS server daemon (named), to reload the configuration and to reset the configuration to it's defaults. Configuration files are stored under (referred to as CFGDIR): /raid/data/module/FaJoDNSServer/system/etc/named Data and log files are stored under (referred to as DATADIR): /raid/data/module/FaJoDNSServer/system/var/named To extend the configuration one may add configuration files under CFGDIR/named.d. The configuration files must end in .conf. Zone data files may be created under DATADIR/master or DATADIR/slave. The BIND that ships with the module provides support for dynamically loadable zones (DLZ) using the the following backends:
This allows to implement database backed zone configurations. Known issues(known) Further informationen
